Who We Are

Brian Pometta, LEED AP Architect & Principal

“Good design is akin to a steep ravine connected by an elegant bridge. The natural and the man-made elements complement each other, resulting in a place that is not only more accessible and humane but also inherently more beautiful.”

Brian Pometta, a UC Berkeley graduate of 1984, embarked on his architectural journey with the San Francisco firm, Brewer, Fraser & Holland Architects (BF&H). As the lead designer and project manager, he contributed significantly to medical projects across Northern California, including the design of the Kaiser Walnut Creek Medical Office Building Addition. His career is marked by a deep-rooted association with the Bay Area medical community, extending his work to the Sacramento valley and Sierra Foothills.

In 1997, Mr. Pometta expanded his portfolio to include commercial and residential design, collaborating with Jack Herbert and Gary Samonsky of Herbert + Samonsky Architects (HSA). This partnership evolved into Samonsky + Pometta Architects (SPARC) in 1999, blending healthcare projects with high-end residences, hotels, breweries, and wineries across Napa, San Francisco, and Oregon's wine country. The firm was reincorporated as Brian Pometta Architects, PC in 2021, and continues to thrive.

The firm's success lies in its fusion of a modern aesthetic with a comprehensive understanding of construction methods and materials, resulting in designs that are elegant, functional, and cost-effective. Mr. Pometta's expertise in early project financial analysis, entitlement procurement, and planning approvals sets projects on a successful trajectory. His exceptional visual and verbal communication skills, coupled with his ability to collaborate with diverse government organizations, are invaluable during the early stages of a project.

With extensive experience in all architectural phases, including design, master planning, and project management, Mr. Pometta's portfolio spans a wide range of projects. From nightclub remodels to new breweries and wineries, from luxury homes to large-scale hotels, and from hospital renovations to new hospital buildings, his work is diverse and expansive.
